Sustainability

Sustainable and climate-conscious action is in the DNA of the CHIRON Group and is of crucial importance beyond maintaining our economic performance. We take our responsibility seriously and make the best possible contribution to the success of this major, globally significant transformation.

For our customers we develop solutions that simultaneously conserve resources and increase productivity. With the »Sustainability@CHIRON Group« program, we have laid the foundation for making sustainability a strategic factor in our business model, for us and our customers.

Ambitious goal: carbon-neutral production in Scope 1 and 2 worldwide by 2025

Reducing energy consumption, expanding in-house power generation, switching to green electricity, offsetting emissions unavoidable in the short term: With these measures, we aim to achieve a balanced CO2 footprint in Scope 1 and 2 in our global production network by the end of 2025. We are also participating in the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) and have formally committed to meeting the emissions reduction targets and having our progress independently verified. Together with many other companies around the world, we are thus helping to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Sustainability Reports: Sustainability by Performance and Precision

In our annual sustainability reports »Sustainability by Performance and Precision«, with reference to GRI standards, we voluntarily report on our activities in all relevant areas since 2021, providing data on past successes and focusing on future key topics. And prove that economic performance and sustainability go hand in hand over the long term.

Key topics of the report 2022 are the progress made with the reduction measures in Scope 1 and 2 as well as the publication of the emissions balance with a focus on Scope 3, the indirect emissions in the value chain. In addition, the Sustainability Report 2022 documents the diverse activities of the international locations of the CHIRON Group to fulfill their social, economic and entrepreneurial responsibility.

Pioneering: the environmental balance of the machining centers

Our commitment to sustainability also extends to our customers: The machining centers of the CHIRON Group and the manufacturing processes they enable are designed for efficiency. Their ecological footprint is impressive in terms of energy requirements as well as the use of resources such as production time, space requirements, investment, and personnel. A prime example: the Micro5 for high-precision machining of delicate parts in the smallest of spaces, with up to 50 times lower energy consumption compared to conventional systems.

Initiatives and partnerships

Achieving greater sustainability is easier when working together. That is why we are involved in various initiatives and partnerships, and why we cultivate an exchange of interests in associations and cross-industry company networks. Here and there, we drive the issue forward and help shape the socio-political, economic and ecological framework. As a partner in the VDMA Blue Competence initiative, we have also committed ourselves to adhering to the twelve sustainability guidelines of mechanical and plant engineering. These are based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.
