Sustainability
For the CHIRON Group, acting with respect for nature and the climate is part of our DNA and is of crucial importance beyond simply maintaining our economic performance. We take our responsibility seriously and do our utmost to ensure the success of this major, globally significant transformation.
We develop solutions for our customers that achieve the highest possible productivity whilst using as few resources as possible. Through the »Sustainability@CHIRON Group« program, we have laid the foundations for making sustainability a strategic element of our business model – both for us and for our customers.
Emissions reduction and offsetting
With regard to our production, we are focusing on reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions both at our sites in Tuttlingen and Neuhausen o.E. and at our overseas production sites. To this end, we are implementing a combination of various measures: We are reducing our energy consumption, expanding our on-site electricity generation and switching to green electricity. Around half of our total global energy requirements is accounted for by electricity consumption. We are therefore placing particular emphasis on switching to green electricity and expanding our on-site electricity generation through photovoltaic systems.
With regard to emissions that cannot be avoided in the short and medium term, we are also investing in offsetting measures.
Commitment to reducing emissions in accordance with the SBTi
We are participating in the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and are also working to reduce our emissions as part of this project.
By taking part in this initiative, we are joining forces with many other companies around the world to do our bit towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Performance figures for our machine tools: setting the standard
Our commitment is equally directed towards our customers: the CHIRON Group’s machining centres and the manufacturing processes they enable are designed for efficiency. They deliver outstanding results in terms of energy consumption and the use of resources such as production time, floor space, capital investment and labour. The best example: the Micro5 for high-precision machining of delicate parts in the smallest of spaces.
Initiatives and partnerships
We can achieve greater protection for the environment and the climate more effectively by working together. That is why we are committed to various initiatives and partnerships, and foster the exchange of ideas at association level and within cross-sector business networks. In both contexts, we drive this issue forward and help shape the socio-political, economic and environmental framework conditions.
