The EuroSkills 2025 in Herning, Denmark, concluded with a record result for Team Germany: 22 medals – including silver in CNC milling for Carina Bühler from Röchling Industrial. She was prepared for the competition and accompanied by Herbert Mattes, national coach and training manager at the CHIRON Group. The machining mechanic's success underlines the company's long-standing commitment to promoting young technical talent.
From September 9 to 13, around 600 young professionals from 32 nations competed in 38 disciplines at EuroSkills 2025. More than 100,000 visitors followed the competitions with as much excitement as the training teams. Herbert Mattes has been the national coach for CNC milling since 2007, preparing young talents for national and international competitions through targeted training and technical expertise. "Concentration, endurance and precision are crucial for success," he explains. "Carina Bühler has impressively demonstrated these strengths."
Systematic support of young talent
For many years, the CHIRON Group has been committed to training young professionals beyond its own apprenticeship programs. As a founding member of WorldSkills Germany e. V., the company provides infrastructure and expertise and boasts a strong coaching team with Herbert Mattes and Steffen Sigrist.
"Vocational competitions such as EuroSkills showcase the potential of dual training. That's why we continuously invest in training at the highest level," emphasizes Cornelia Braun, Senior Vice President Global Human Resources.
The CHIRON Group enjoyed a double success at the German CNC milling championship, which was once again held at the headquarters in Tuttlingen in 2025: Nico Bosch became German champion and Niklas Steinhauser was runner-up. Both are now preparing for WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai or the "home game" EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf.
Strong network for the next generation of skilled workers
The German team is participating in the European Championships in cooperation with WorldSkills Germany and the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH). Sponsored by two federal ministries and supported by the presenting partner MEWA, the competition offers a Europe-wide stage for top performance in vocational training.
